Director of Development
Overview
California State University, San Bernardino a preeminent University at the center of intellectual and cultural activity located in Inland Southern California was on the search for a Director of Development for a satellite campus off the beaten path.
The Challenge
California State University, San Bernardino’s satellite campus is located in a smaller demographical region, which makes the local candidate pool very small to choose from. In addition to the location, the job market was an employee-driven market and the talent was hard enough to come by for a large metropolitan area let alone a small populated area. The University did not have dedicated resources to support the outreach efforts and solely relied on the job posting to generate applicants, to no avail.
The Solution
Our Talent Strategist dove head first into sourcing and posting for this position, advertising the job posting directly to Development- and Fundraising-specific job boards as well as leveraging our LinkedIn network geared toward Development and Non-Profit Fundraising. Our network and approach produced a larger pool of diverse candidates from around the US that the University was not able to previously reach.
The Result
Another Source provided seven qualified candidates and of those, 3 made it into second round interviews. A finalist prevailed from the top three and the California State University, San Bernardino was able to extend an offer that was accepted. The Another Source team continues to partner with the CSUSB in various departments, building candidate pools of both external and internal candidates.
