The university was in need of an Associate Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students after the position predecessor accepted a new role after 8 impactful years. The position’s importance could not be understated as it was directly responsible for the education and well-being for every student on campus.
Given the dynamic nature of the work and impact on the university, leadership was at the core for this position. The university faced a tough task of replacing a well-tenured individual with someone who would be quick to jump in, to understand the climate of the university, and to ultimately continue to lead positive student outcomes across campus. Another Source’s task was to identify higher education leaders who listen to and value the student voice, who can develop strategic plans in accordance with the university’s mission, and who practice patience and empathy to the student experience.
Another Source provided the university’s search committee with a robust choice of candidates, identifying 8 candidates to interview. The approach revolved around a strategic posting and sourcing initiative in which we leveraged our knowledge of higher education job boards and associations, LinkedIn communities, and ultimately, our ability to passively source qualified candidates.
After a thorough recruiting effort and qualifying process, the university identified their next Associate Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students. The placement led to Another Source partnering with the university on additional Student Affairs positions over the course of the next few years.
