CSU Monterey Bay University – Recruiting for Higher Education Student Housing

Overview

After an unexpected resignation, CSU Monterey Bay was left with a leadership gap supporting their residential communities and beyond. The university decided to evaluate their needs and hone in on the qualities needed to support the student population.

The Challenge

The university was up against a critical timeframe of needing a strong leader to step in for student occupancy management and developing a strategy for housing their incoming students. At the same time, the university was in a position of evaluating the needs of student housing and to better understand furniture procurement, staffing levels, and team motivation heading into the start of the academic year. There were a lot of important focuses running parallel to the university’s recruitment efforts.

The Solution

Another Source stepped in to offload the recruitment efforts and identify strong candidates to fill the position, freeing-up needed time for the university to focus on its strategy. Another Source identified key components for ideal candidates and in-turn adopted a job posting and candidate sourcing strategy to deliver.

The Result

Another Source identified the university’s next Director of Student Housing. The candidate brought extensive housing and residence experience, a proven record of understanding student populations needs from a large, public institution, and exceptional leadership skills stemming from a Master’s of Education in College Student Affairs and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling and Student Personnel Services.
